20 Things You Didn't Know About Me.

I stole this from my friend Wendy's blog. I thought it would be fun.

1. I was an accomplished classical bassoonist from age 17 to 21 and I haven't played it since.

2. I was part of an acapella madrigals singing group in high school.

3. I have never broken a bone (unless you count the cracking of the wrist last week ;) ).

4. I don't usually like other people's children.

5. I haven't always been fat.

6. I cried when we traded in my 4Runner for the van.

7. It took us over 2 years to get pregnant with Zack.

8. My favorite color is royal blue.

9. I'm against the death penalty under any circumstances.

10. I love cheesy, stupid TV Dramas like Melrose Place.

11. I have a problem with trying to make everyone else happy and not myself.

12. I feel like no one knows the real me.

13. I have a problem eating certain foods because of their texture. I can't stand eating fruit with the skin on it or "waxy" vegetables.

14. I have a phobia of spiders, heights, and death. Paralyzing phobia, honestly.

15. I think potty humor is hysterical.

16. I hate being alone.

17. I think I like chocolate more than sex.

18. I haven't worn a dress in years, in fact, I don't own one now.

19. I'm a neat freak at work but my house is a mess.

20. I love swimming, but I never do it.

I wimped out...

I didn't serve last night. I was all set to, and then I got cold feet. I was terrified to pick anything up with my left hand and was so paranoid about dropping something at a table that I just couldn't do it. The manager had me hold a tray with 5 plates on it (they are made of pewter, so pretty heavy) with my left hand. It started to burn so I got sent up to the host stand for the night.

I took the splint off and worked with an ace bandage on. We were short a busser, so I was helping out with scrubbing tables and resetting them. I had no pain with that, so that's a good sign.

I'm scheduled tonight. I've had the splint off since last night and my arm feels good. I think I just need to suck it up and serve tonight. I haven't had any pain today, even with picking up Zack, so I think I'm good.

I'm just gunshy. Saturdays are hectic as hell - we're gonna get slammed tonight, I've seen the books. It will be good money though.

Randy told me to show up tonight dressed to serve, but to have other clothes for either hosting or expo (working in the kitchen) just in case. I'd really like to make some money - it's been weeks.

I'll report back tomorrow, promise.

Never Thought I'd Say This

But I need to get back to work. It's been over 10 days since I worked as a server. I'm jonesin' to get out of the house and work a shift.

I picked up a shift for tomorrow night as a host, but it's not the same thing. I do work Friday and Saturday serving, but I'm not sure how that's going to go with my arm still in a splint. Maybe they will put me on as a server's assistant or something, I don't know. I'm definitely worried about how I'm going to manage. I will probably end up taking the splint off, I can see it now.

So anyway, I'm going to host tomorrow. Hosting is easy, I'll probably be home by 10 and it'll be some extra money.

I definitely miss the money. But, I really, really miss the social aspect. It's nice to have adults to talk to and not have to worry about where my kids are or if they are listening in or whatever. Everyone needs some adult time. I can't wait to get mine back!

It's about time

I stopped being so hard on myself for actually (gasp) having fun!!

I went out with Courtney last week and got stinkin' drunk. Beyond drunk. Worshipping the porcelain god, drunk. And you know what? It was great. Not the drinking particularly, but the being out with my best friend without a care in the world. I didn't have to worry about how I was going to get home cuz Courtney was driving me. I didn't have to worry about the kids or how late I was staying out or anything. The only thing I had to worry about was not embarrassing myself, which I think I accomplished quite well.

Probably would have been better if I didn't barf at work, which is where we decided to go, since I get a 50% discount on alcohol ;) But hey, shit happens haha.

When I woke up the next day (without a hangover, incidentally - I'm a rock star), I was ready to do it again (not necessarily the drinking, but the being out). I've talked with Dave more about it and I think if I could just get out once a week or so with Courtney to just sit and chat somewhere where there are adults and no children, it would be so great for my mental health. I get stressed out so easily and having a night out to look forward to makes me feel better.

Dave agreed. So tomorrow night, Courtney & I are hitting The Pot again. This time for cheese ;)

No More Housework

I'm typing this with my left arm in a half-cast. Why, you might ask? Because I bruised and slightly cracked the bone in my left forearm, right near my wrist. How did I do it, ladies and gentlemen? Vacuuming my stairs.

Yup, I probably had the dumbest injury in the ER last night. We have a Kirby vacuum cleaner. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a really expensive convertible vacuum that's made out of steel. It's a fantastic machine, I can use it as a shop-vac for the cars, it sweeps the floors, and it's a shampooer too. I love the thing. Have I mentioned that it's really heavy?

I discovered that the hard way a few months ago when I was vacuuming the stairs. It was in the hand-held mode (of course, who could carry it around like that, I don't know, it must weigh 25 pounds) and balanced on about the third step from the top. It tumbled and I managed to catch it, but it still hit my arm and that hurt. I should have learned my lesson. I must have at least a little bit because I have vacuumed the stairs between then and now with no issues.

Until yesterday, that is. Same thing happened yesterday, except two things made this incident cause more injury. 1. The vacuum was about 5 steps above where I was, not 1 or 2. 2. I didn't know the vacuum fell because I was looking down. So all of a sudden, this steel thing slams into my arm and I felt the nastiest burning sensation. Oh, and pain. So, I finished cleaning the stairs (because who wants half-vacuumed stairs) and brought the vacuum back upstairs.

I came downstairs and when I tried to pick up Zack, I couldn't, so I figured it was time to go to the ER. I gotta say that our ER was fabulous. I got there a little after 5pm and was out of there before 7 - can you believe it?

So I have this half-cast/splint thing that I'm supposed to wear for a few weeks. I can't work for a week at the restaurant because I can't lift anything. I'm going to host tonight and then my shift on Sunday was given to someone else. I can serve again next Fri/Sat.

I dread having to explain to my boss this morning at my regular job what an idiot I am.

There's nothing like

Having a sex dream about someone you're not attracted to. ACK! I had one about my boss at the restaurant and now I can't look him in the face without cracking up hahaha.

I've had weird dreams lately, which is really what this post is about. Not just sex dreams, but just bizarre dreams. I have nightmares about work where I have too many tables and people yell at me. I have dreams where I forget to do something at the lawfirm and Mark gets in tons of trouble and loses a case. I have dreams where I can't find one of my kids.

Why can't I have fun, normal dreams? How about a nice dream where Dave & I are on vacation alone? How about some flying dreams? Dreams about giant pieces of food. Heck, dreams about being pregnant, I like those. Granted, most of my sex dreams are about Dave and I like those, but I'd like some non-sex, non-screwing-up-at-work dreams.

Oh, and also, am I the only one that can "feel" in my dreams? I can actually feel someone touching me or if I'm hurt in a dream. Am I weird?

So Excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I didn't let a lot of people know ahead of time because I didn't want to jinx anything. I applied for Pregnancy.org's 2005 Fitness Makeover Challenge. And I got picked!!!!!!!!! Only 12 people got chosen, and I'm one of the lucky ones.

I'm keeping a fitness journal here: http://www.pregnancy.org/pagetesting/fitnessmakeover.php if you want to check that out and see my progress.

I'm really excited and really scared. I'm afraid of failure. I'm afraid it will be too hard. Maybe I'm afraid of actual success, who knows. But, it's time to give this a real try!

I'm Officially Boycotting Chinese Buffets

First, there was Canada. Fantastic food, good price. Dave ended up barfing all night long. We narrowed it down to the shrimp sushi - no one else had it.

Then, there was Friday night. Ok food, too expensive. Alex was the victim this time. He barfed twice Friday night/Saturday morning. We figured it must have been the peel & eat shrimp - no one else had it.

That's it. I'm not eating at Chinese buffets anymore. What is wrong with these people? Do they not understand that seafood needs to be thoroughly cooked before eaten?? Apparently, they don't. So, I'm not going to go to any anymore.

If I come to visit you, do not suggest that we go to a Chinese buffet.

Who knew?

There's a time limit on stitches. I had no idea!!!!

I woke up this morning and the cut on my finger was still a little open. By the time my shower was done, it was a LOT open. So, I decided to go to an Urgent Care facility near work and get it stitched up before work. The doctor told me it was "too late" to stitch it, gave me a tetanus shot (um, OUCH?) and sent me on my way.

Well, I was in a hurry, so I didn't inquire as to why exactly it was too late. So, when I was finished with work, I went to the plastic surgeon who works on our floor and asked him about it. He looked at my finger and said "you should have had that stitched up last night" (which is exactly what the doctor this morning said). Then he went on to explain that after 6-8 hours, the risk of infection is greater than the risk of not stitching it. Wow, I didn't know that.

So I have a steri-strip on it for a while. Of course, the doc said to let it air out as much as possible, so I'll do that. Thank goodness the cut wasn't nearer to the tip of my finger (it was on the nice fleshy part), or I couldn't type ;)

Priorities, people, priorities!!!

This was supposed to post last night

But I was having internet troubles, so here it is anyway.

Sorry I haven't updated in so long. I was working a lot at the beginning of the week but now I'm off from The Pot until WEDNESDAY! Woo hoo!!! I'm enjoying the down time and getting some things done.

I did something incredibly stupid tonight. Considering what I do for my career, which is heaving on the typing, it was stupid. I decided to have a big salad for dinner and was cutting up some stuff in the processor. But, the green peppers don't fit in there quite right, gotta cut them up first. Well, I was lazy and was cutting the pepper over the trash can, intead of using the cutting board. The knife got stuck in the pepper and when I loosened it, SLIT - right into my middle finger. OUCH! I've never bled that much before. It looks like a small animal was slaughtered in our trash can. Not to mention the blood on the floor and in the sink. Oh yeah, and on my shirt. Still not sure how that happened. I'd like to know if the CSI investigators could tell me by the blood spatter haha.

Cassie cleaned up the blood on the floor while Alex tried to get Zack to look at the blood in the trash can. Boys.

So now, over 4 hours later, the cut's still open. Probably not good. I have a nice makeshift bandage on it, but I wanted to check it out before I went to sleep. Ick. I guess I'll leave it and when I change the bandage tomorrow, if it's still not healing, I'll call my doctor. I should never put my hands/fingers at risk - they are my livelihood.

This tops off a day where I let my son fall on his head. He was on my shoulders at the store, squirming and being a monkey. I should have been holding on to him tighter, I know this. I'm a horrible mom, I feel terrible. He fell backwards. I managed to grab one of his feet for a second, so at least he didn't fall the entire way, but I couldn't hang on to him and...ker-SPLAT. He screamed for his daddy and just like all 3 year old boys, he was running around and asking for stuff within a few minutes, telling everyone who would listen that he fell on his head. He got lots of giggles and pats on the head from strangers who were sympathetic to him having such a bum for a mom.

So, my birthday is Saturday. I'm such a little kid when it comes to my birthday :) I've booked a 3.5 hour spa session on Saturday morning - massage, facial, manicure & pedicure. I'm not too keen on the manicure, but I'm looking forward to the pedicure, which I've never had. The massage and facial I KNOW I will love. Saturday is the one day a year when it's all about me. I can't wait - a day of relaxation and getting whatever I want. Cuz, as Cartman says, "it's my birthday, my b-b-b-birthday".

I hate a huge update typed out and my stupid ISP flaked out on me and it's gone.

I'm so not typing all of that again.

I'm back :)

We're home from Canada and had a great time!!! We packed a lot of sight seeing into two days and boy am I sore!! I will post some pictures, no worries.

I had such a great time with Stacey - it wasn't like our first time meeting, but rather, like we had hung out a lot. I was very comfortable with her and her family is so sweet. Her eldest boy reminds me so much of Alex, it's scary. Ben & Jake are so dang cute. Ben had us laughing so hard the whole trip, he's adorable.

We visited this castle www.casaloma.org - it was fascinating. I wish we would have brought our camera, but we forgot. We hit the zoo too. It was cold, but I'm still glad that we went. Zack was really good on the long drives - so much better than I thought he would. Thank God for built-in dvd players. It was a life saver.

It was really neat to see all the different stores and such that we don't have here in the States. Oh and yes, Ketchup chips and Dill Pickle chips are good. The dill pickle chips were my favorite!! Did you guys know they sell Mountain Dew without caffeine up there. I mean, it's not possible to get it with caffeine, they don't make it that way. So weird ;) I'm still giggling at Bob L'Ponge references - everything is in English and French and apparently, that's what Spongebob is called.

So here are the pictures - I hope they are small enough to not push my side bar around, but we shall see:

This is a view of the CN Tower as we were walking up to it. It's the tallest building in the world. I'm not sure why the pic is so dark, considering it was a beautiful sunny day when we went there.

Zack waiting for us to go up in the elevator:

The view from the first observation deck:

Me & Zack on the 1st observation deck:

Then we went up HIGHER to the 2nd observation deck (pee my pants high). Here is a picture of the info about how high up we were:

The view from the Sky Pod:

Zack & I in the sky pod:

Dave & Zack in the sky pod:

All three of us, again in the sky pod:

On the floor just below the 1st observation deck, there is an area with a glass floor. Yup, a glass floor. It's incredibly scary. It wouldn't be so bad if the glass doesn't appear to be about 2 inches thick at the most!!! Here are the pics from the glass floor:

My two favorite pictures, taken by Zack. Yup, Zack took them - this is Ben:

And he took this pic of me & Dave. I love the finger in the shot
